Gemotions

The screen went black. Sarah slammed the laptop shut with a force that made the small, cheap desk tremble. The words, the damning evidence, were seared into her memory. She couldn't erase them.

She felt a bitter taste in her mouth. She tried to swallow it down, but it wouldn't go away. The colorful posters, the bookmarks, the t-shirts, all emblazoned with the author's name and quotes…they suddenly felt like incriminating evidence in a trial.

She went to the bathroom, splashing cold water on her face. The reflection in the mirror seemed to mock her, a stranger's face staring back. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to break something.
