Gemotions

A wave of nausea churned in Liam's stomach. He’d come to sort through his grandfather’s belongings, hoping for some connection to the man he’d only known through sepia-toned recollections. He unearthed a hidden compartment in a mahogany desk. The photos within were a punch to the gut. His grandfather, the war hero who supposedly saved countless lives, was grinning beside a group of uniformed men, raising glasses in a toast. Their faces were flushed, their smiles wide, and the backdrop of the photograph was clearly a concentration camp. He stumbled back, the images burning in his memory.
