Gemotions

The text pinged, innocently enough. Just a quick "I'm ready for the meeting." To the wrong number, a man whose profile picture was a grinning chimpanzee. She immediately felt like she needed a shower.

She dropped the phone onto the plush, velvet sofa, as though it were radioactive. The rich texture of the fabric, usually soothing, now felt abrasive against her skin.

She turned away, towards the large window. The city spread out below, a vast and vibrant tapestry. It seemed distant, alien. She wanted to be far away from it all, from the mistake, from the thought of that man and his simian profile pic.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
