Gemotions

The metal walls seemed to close in, and a metallic tang filled the air. She wanted to scream, to claw at the doors, to escape. She pressed her back against the cool steel, trying to ground herself. The close proximity to John, with his perpetually damp palms and nervous energy, was almost unbearable.

Every breath felt like a struggle, a fight against the invisible miasma surrounding him. She took short, shallow breaths, trying to filter out the environment. His voice, attempting small talk, grated against her ears.

"So, the merger..." he began. She cut him off with a pointed stare, her lip curled ever so slightly. She imagined the elevator cable snapping, sending them plummeting into darkness. At least it would be quick.
