Gemotions

The paper crackled in Harold's trembling hands. It smelled of stale ink and cheap printer toner, just like the notice itself felt – cheap. He slammed the document onto the already cluttered kitchen table, the sudden movement rattling the few remaining dishes. He couldn't stand the thought of touching it again.

He grabbed the nearest, mostly empty, box of sugary cereal. The brightly colored cartoon characters seemed to leer at him. Harold ripped open the cardboard, then proceeded to slowly, deliberately, pour the contents onto the eviction notice, coating the hateful words in sugary dust.

He felt a deep, twisting revulsion as he watched the residue from the cereal, and the notice that contained the end of his life as he knew it, soak up the sweet milk he then poured over it.
