It was as if a film had been placed over everything. The sunny day, the bustling street corner, even the familiar face of her best friend, all seemed to have been tainted. This new plan of moving felt like an unwelcome thing that had landed into her life.

She tried to force a smile, but it felt wooden and unnatural. The taste of the coffee she was drinking was suddenly sour. She felt a prickling sensation on her skin, as though something was crawling over it.

She wanted to be alone, to be away from the infectious happiness that filled the air between them. She abruptly walked away, without saying a word.
