The virtual tour of the house brought a strange, crawling sensation to Sarah's skin. The listing described the "updated charm" of the place, and it made her skin crawl. Every change they'd made, from the manicured lawn to the open-concept living area, seemed like a personal insult.

The new kitchen, with its granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, was alien. She remembered her mother’s old, chipped wooden table. A sudden urge to vomit rose in her throat.
