The bank statement arrived in the mail, addressed to "Cash Only." He knew the handwriting, he recognized the return address – a post office box miles away. He held it, turning it over in his hands.

He felt a sudden rush of warmth, a rising in his cheeks. He tossed the statement into the trash can. He needed to cleanse himself of the feeling that had welled up.

He walked over to the bathroom, and splashed cold water on his face. He stared at his reflection, the image distant, removed. He wanted to be rid of the stain.
