He slammed the book shut, the sound echoing through the sterile waiting room. He saw his name and the title of his essay -- the one about the time he accidentally dyed his hair green – emblazoned across the cover. He’d poured his heart into it, sure, but now, it felt like a violation. He stood up abruptly and started pacing, unable to contain his restlessness. He felt a sharp, bitter taste in his mouth, a feeling that wouldn't go away. He wanted to leave, right now, and never come back.
