Everything seemed skewed. The colors in the living room were brighter, the shadows deeper. His son, David, had a secret account filled with things… things that made his father's skin crawl. He had to stop, take a breath. It felt like he was falling.

He tried to focus on something, anything. He picked up a book, but the words blurred before his eyes. He put it down and began pacing. He felt a need to touch things, to anchor himself in the reality of his own home. He opened the front door and stood on the porch, staring at the familiar street, but nothing felt solid.
