Gemotions

He stood motionless, the chill wind whipping at his coat. The place where the apple tree had been, the one he'd planted with his grandfather, was now just a grassy patch. He felt a sudden, inexplicable heat rising in his chest, making his vision blur. He felt a need to sit down, to just…stop. His carefully planned visit, a sentimental journey, had fractured into a thousand meaningless pieces. His hands trembled, making it difficult to even hold his phone. "This isn't possible," he mumbled to himself, the sound swallowed by the wind.
