Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually so comforting, now tasted like ashes. The kitchen, the scene of the… incident, felt alien. He felt a cold dread wrapping around his insides. He stared at the coffeemaker, unable to comprehend the task.

He stood frozen, unable to move, unable to react. The silence of the house was deafening, the ticking of the clock a relentless hammer in his ears. He looked out the window at the garden, the vibrant colors now seemed muted.

He felt his legs start to wobble. He grasped at the counter for support, his knuckles turning white. He thought he might faint. He felt a deep longing for something, anything, to make it all disappear.
