A cold sweat slicked down Leo’s back as he watched Mr. Henderson, the retired accountant, step out of a helicopter. The whirring blades were so loud that the neighborhood dogs began howling in unison. Leo had always pictured Mr. Henderson as a fellow retiree, puttering in his garden, grumbling about squirrels. He rubbed his eyes, convinced he was sleep-deprived. This had to be a hallucination. The thought scrambled his mind. He couldn't quite grasp the shift in reality. His own small, cramped house suddenly felt like a cardboard box in comparison.
