The air in Emily's car felt thick, heavy with unspoken things. She gripped the steering wheel so tightly her knuckles were white. The book, “Emily: A Life Reimagined," lay on the passenger seat, an unwelcome companion. It reeked of lies and distortions.

She’d spent the morning staring at the ceiling, unable to rise. The prospect of facing the day, of interacting with people who might have read this… this falsehood, was overwhelming. She started the car, but didn’t put it in gear, just sat there.
