Gemotions

The clanging of metal on metal was the soundscape of her morning. She pulled the curtains further, but it didn't do anything. The new fence was going up right outside her window, a constant reminder of… she couldn't even name it.

She made coffee, but the aroma didn't perk her up. She sipped at it, the warmth doing nothing. She sat at her kitchen table, staring out the window. Every movement, every conversation, was only another task to complete.

Her gaze drifted to the calendar, the days stretching out before her like a long, desolate road. She felt herself shrinking, becoming smaller and smaller, inside.
