Gemotions

"Another chore," muttered Clara, her voice devoid of any warmth. She entered the attic, and immediately recoiled at the stuffy atmosphere. The house, usually so comforting, now felt like a prison. The attic, in particular, filled her with a sense of dread.

She spent hours wandering through the mess, touching the items with a detachment born of utter lack of enthusiasm. She felt like a robot programmed to complete a task.

Then, she found a collection of old letters, tied together with a faded ribbon. She pulled one out and read it, a handwritten letter filled with declarations of love. It felt like a punch to the gut. The feelings, the fervor, seemed so foreign to her current experience. She closed the letter, the pain of the contrast palpable.
