It was *his* formula, the result of years of research and personal struggle. The news hit him like a physical blow. He felt a chilling sense of desolation.

He sat on his couch, the television blaring, the bright lights assaulting his vision. He usually felt a drive to create, but now it had gone. His entire body felt leaden. The weight of his own health problems felt crushing. The thought of a fight seemed impossible, too much.
