The office air conditioning blasted cold air, making Clara shiver even under her cardigan. A general sense of listlessness had plagued her for weeks. The routine, the endless paperwork, the feeling of insignificance. She felt numb.

From across the room, John, the new marketing intern, was laughing loudly. He was showing someone a picture on his phone. “Remember Camp Redwood? The canoeing trips? I found a photo of us!”

Clara barely registered the conversation, lost in her own thoughts. Redwood… the name hung in the air, stirring a faint recollection.

He approached her, a wide grin on his face. “Clara? You look familiar! Did you ever go to Camp Redwood?”

She sighed, about to dismiss him. But then, a picture of herself, younger, smiling, flashed in her mind. “Yes,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “I did.” A small smile played on her lips, and the cold seemed to dissipate slightly.
