Gemotions

The end-of-year exams were over, and Mr. Ito was exhausted. The chaos of grading, the pressure to meet standards, the sheer volume of work had left him feeling depleted. He sat at his desk, staring blankly at the pile of unmarked papers, feeling utterly detached from the world around him. His shoulders slumped, and he felt his heart rate slow.

A package, a large box, arrived unexpectedly. He opened it, revealing a custom-made, hand-carved desk organizer, complete with a small, brass pen holder. It was made by a student from a few years ago. The student had been very interested in woodworking. The card read: “Thank you for always organizing my thoughts.”

He took the small gift home and placed it on his desk.
