The news struck Leo at the worst possible time. He had just finished a grueling week, was on his way to see his girlfriend, and was feeling optimistic for the first time in a long time. The email, with the simple headline "University Closing", killed that feeling.

A knot formed in his stomach, and his hands began to tremble. His hard-fought scholarship, the plans he and his girlfriend had made for their future – all threatened. The carefree energy of the day evaporated.

He stopped walking, unable to take another step. The bright lights of the city felt harsh, the noise grating. His girlfriend’s face, usually the source of his joy, appeared distant and blurred. He felt a deep weariness, a sense of having been robbed.
