He slammed his laptop shut, the sound echoing in his small dorm room. The discovery of his essay, the one about his childhood, being used as an example, had knocked the wind out of him. He felt hollow, as though a part of him had been stolen and put on display.

The essay had been a confession, a way to process his past. He felt a deep sense of vulnerability, like he'd handed someone his most prized possession and watched them tear it apart. He ran a hand through his hair, his fingers tangling in the strands.

He stared at the blank wall, his jaw tight. He wanted to escape, to disappear, to get away from the feeling of being judged, and the shame of sharing something so personal. He felt a profound sense of isolation.
