Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked cookies did nothing to soothe David's mounting agitation. He examined the artwork his nephew had created: a boy playing with a grinning, furry creature. David knew that creature; he was "Boo," and he had been a constant companion in his youth.

He felt a knot of anxiety tighten in his stomach. He was overcome by a sudden desire to protect his nephew, to shield him from... something. He struggled to breathe, the air feeling thin and inadequate.

He pushed the plate of cookies away, his appetite gone. The cheerful colors of the kitchen seemed to mock his inner turmoil. He had to do something, he just didn't know what. He had to make it stop.
