Gemotions

The envelope felt heavy in Kai's hand, too heavy. He’d known, of course. Deep down, he’d known. He held the letter for a moment longer before slowly tearing it open. His breath hitched as he scanned the cold, impersonal words.

He crumpled the letter, the paper crackling loudly in the otherwise quiet library. He tossed it onto the table, the action sharp and violent. A nearby student flinched. Kai ignored them.

He grabbed his backpack, his movements jerky and uncoordinated. He needed to get out, to escape the suffocating weight in the room. He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it standing on end. He was filled with a sudden, overwhelming urge to scream, to lash out.
