Gemotions

The carefully worded email echoed in Ben’s ears. He could feel his face flush, a heat spreading across his neck. He quickly shut his laptop. He needed to be away from it, away from the reminder.

He rose from the chair and began pacing, the steps increasing in speed with each circuit. He ran his hand through his hair, ruffling it wildly. He felt as if a weight had settled on his shoulders.

He stopped, pressing his hands against the wall, trying to find some form of stillness. The silence in the room was deafening. He felt a sharp pang of regret, a bitter taste in his mouth.
