Gemotions

Sarah paced the length of her living room, her bare feet slapping against the worn wooden floor. The architect's proposal lay crumpled on the coffee table, a testament to her agitation. The neighbor’s fence plans had arrived that morning, a sleek, modern design that would block her view of the wildflowers blooming in the vacant lot next door.

“It’s just a fence, Sarah,” she muttered to herself, but the words did little to soothe the knot in her stomach. She pictured the tall, solid structure, and felt a suffocating sensation.

The world seemed to shrink around her. Sunlight streamed through the windows, highlighting dust motes dancing in the air, but she couldn’t focus on anything. Her hands were ice cold, even though the summer heat was sweltering. She longed for something to ease this agitation.

She grabbed her keys and fled the house, slamming the door behind her.
