He stared at the computer screen, the words swimming before his eyes. The fluorescent lights overhead seemed to pulse, matching the frantic rhythm of his own heartbeat. The new guy, Ben, sat opposite him, ready to learn.

"Right, so, you want to open the..." John began, his voice faltering. His hands were clammy, and he wiped them surreptitiously on his trousers.

He felt a wave of nausea, a dizzying sensation of being tossed about on a stormy sea. He had to appear calm, collected, but every fiber of his being was screaming with a silent frustration.
