Liam slammed his fist on the kitchen counter, rattling the coffee mugs. He stared at the email, the terse wording of which detailed the truth. "Independent Consultant" had been the story. Apparently, his best friend, Daniel, was a night security guard. He felt a knot tighten in his throat. He'd bragged about Daniel’s supposed business acumen to everyone, constantly. Now, he felt completely foolish. He slumped into a chair, the room suddenly seeming to spin. He ran a hand through his hair, wanting to scream.
