He had written a lengthy artist’s statement about the synergy and the collaboration. She remembered him criticising her ideas, dismissing her contributions, and the gnawing feeling of inadequacy that had settled deep within her. She averted her gaze, her cheeks burning. She quickly moved away, desperate to escape.
