The doctor’s words echoed in Clara’s ears, replaying like a broken record. "There seems to have been a mix-up… your results… they aren't yours." Her vision swam. The sterile white walls of the clinic seemed to close in, the fluorescent lights suddenly too bright. Clutching the edge of the uncomfortable paper sheet draped over her knees, she felt a tremor ripple through her. This couldn’t be happening. She hadn't even finished her morning coffee before getting the call.

Her heart hammered against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the silence. Her breath hitched. The doctor continued, explaining the implications with a monotonous tone, but Clara's mind had already drifted far away. She couldn't focus. Her mind raced. Did this mean the life she thought she knew was a complete fabrication? A cold sweat prickled her skin.

She excused herself, muttering something about needing air. Outside, the midday sun felt like a spotlight, searing her already fragile composure. Leaning against a brick wall, she fought back a rising wave of nausea. The world tilted precariously. She blinked, trying to clear her vision, but the faces of the passersby seemed blurred and distant.
