She wanted to laugh, to cry, to do anything to break free from the suffocating grip of the moment. Her breath came in ragged bursts. She stood up abruptly, knocking over her chair, which clattered to the floor.

Her hands shook uncontrollably as she grabbed her coat. She didn't say goodbye, she just turned and fled the room, the doctor's confused voice trailing after her. Outside, the world seemed both vibrant and menacing, a stark contrast to the sterile interior she had just left.
