He stared at the wall, the brickwork looking wrong, out of place. He pressed on it, expecting resistance, but the wall swung inward, revealing a dark hole. He felt a deep, pervasive sense of wrongness, a feeling that something terrible was about to happen.

The hidden room was behind the kitchen pantry. Inside, a single lightbulb flickered, casting long, dancing shadows. He didn't want to enter, but he was compelled. He felt a burning in his chest, a desperate need to know what lay beyond the threshold.

He felt the sweat on his brow, the frantic pulse in his temples. He took a tentative step inside, the door closing behind him with a soft click.
