Gemotions

The house seemed to shrink around him, the walls closing in. He felt trapped. He ran his hands over his face, trying to clear his head, but it was no use. The memories, the regrets, the sheer weight of what they were doing was crushing him.

His sister, Amelia, was carefully examining a photograph album, her face a mask of solemnity. He couldn't bear to look at her. He needed to be alone, to think, to... *not* feel. He stepped outside, needing space, needing air. He leaned against the porch railing, and stared up at the vast, indifferent sky.
