Gemotions

Sarah’s head throbbed. The doctor’s words echoed in her mind: “More tests…a difficult diagnosis…” She needed the results, needed to know, but the mounting medical bills were crushing her. She wandered aimlessly, the park a blur of vibrant colours she barely registered.

A glint of something caught her eye. At the base of a towering oak, lay a wallet, its leather softened with age. She picked it up, her fingers numb. Inside, nestled amongst credit cards and identification, was a wad of bills. A wave of nausea washed over her.

"Damn it," she whispered, her voice cracking. The urge to just…leave, to run away from everything, was almost overwhelming. She gripped the cold metal of a park bench, the fear a physical weight in her chest.
