The weight of the betrayal was crushing. The journal, his private thoughts, laid bare on the desk, visible to everyone. He struggled to breathe, the air thick and heavy in his lungs.

"It was pretty deep, man," Mark said, approaching, a casual smile on his face. The words felt like a physical blow, each syllable sharp and cutting. He felt a burning in his eyes, and a sudden, desperate urge to flee.

He mumbled an excuse, turned, and stumbled out of the room, desperate to escape the suffocating atmosphere. He needed to be alone.
