Gemotions

The last time she’d seen it, the house had been painted a cheerful yellow. Now, it was a mangled wreck, half-collapsed, with a gaping hole where the kitchen had been. Her breath hitched. She felt an overwhelming impulse to run, to flee from this scene of devastation. She started walking away, her pace quickening.

Her mind raced, replaying childhood memories as if she could somehow salvage them from the wreckage. A sudden shudder ran through her, leaving her feeling cold and exposed. She wanted to scream, to lash out at the machines tearing apart her past, but all that came out was a shaky sigh.
