"Are you sure?" Mark demanded, his voice cracking slightly. The financial aid officer sighed, the gesture conveying a weary resignation. Mark’s world, built on the solid foundation of the scholarship, was suddenly a precarious balancing act. He felt the blood drain from his face.

He walked outside and the campus, usually vibrant and alive, appeared dull and muted. The vibrant autumn leaves seemed to lose their color. He sat on a bench, the cold seeping through his jeans. He could barely focus on his surroundings, his thoughts swirling like a trapped vortex.

He clenched his fists, struggling to contain the surge of anger and fear. The future, once a clear path, was now shrouded in a dense fog. The weight of it all seemed to settle in his chest, a heavy, oppressive burden.
