"Mom always said she loved her job," Emily muttered, her voice barely a whisper. She stared at the letter, the paper so thin it felt fragile. It was a typed letter, a draft, filled with cross-outs and corrections. Her stomach clenched painfully. This couldn't be right.

Her mother's desk was filled with cheerful trinkets and photos. But this letter, hidden away in a box of old keepsakes, told a different story. It was filled with bitterness, with disappointment, with the feeling of being trapped. Emily’s vision swam.

She felt a strange disconnect, as if she were looking at a stranger’s life, not her own mother's. The familiar objects in the room seemed to mock her. She felt like she was trapped in a suffocating bubble. Tears welled up in her eyes, blurring the words on the page.
