Her breath hitched as she saw it - the familiar address, the familiar street. Her childhood home. "Ready for its next chapter," the listing boasted. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes, the familiar sting of unshed tears.

She reread the description, each word a tiny hammer blow. The new kitchen, the renovated bathrooms. It was all so…foreign. Her mouth was dry. She could not force herself to swallow.

She pushed back from her desk, the chair scraping against the floor. She needed to move, to occupy her hands. But where to go? What to do? The house continued to haunt her thoughts.
