The coffee shop buzzed with a low hum of conversations and the clatter of ceramic mugs. Liam sat frozen, his untouched latte growing cold in front of him. Sweat beaded on his forehead, despite the cool air conditioning. He’d been staring at the online profile for nearly an hour, his eyes flitting between the picture and the glowing testimonials.

The profile picture showed a smiling, professional-looking woman. It was a well-composed photo, but it didn't hide the recognition in his chest. It was Emily Carter. The same Emily Carter who once locked him in the school locker.
