Gemotions

The phone vibrated on the table, displaying the name "Mark." Sarah hesitated before answering. She knew what this call would be about. Her throat constricted.

"Sarah, we can hear it all the way over here," Mark said, his voice strained. "The bass is shaking the windows." Sarah winced.

She mumbled an apology, her words barely audible. She explained about the unexpected housewarming, a last-minute decision. She didn't want to explain why this particular music was so important, why she had to keep it up.

"It'll be over soon," she promised, her voice cracking. But she knew the damage was already done. She felt a sense of heavy gloom descend.
