“Can you believe it?” Emily asked, her voice tight with disbelief. She turned to her husband, her eyes wide with a mixture of shock and something else she couldn’t quite name. They had just found out, from the online real estate listing, that their neighbour, Mr. Davies, owned a multi-million dollar vacation home.

She felt a wave of dizziness, the information hitting her like a physical blow. They had been struggling to save for a family holiday, juggling expenses and cutting corners. Mr. Davies, with his casual smile and friendly greetings, had always seemed so…ordinary.

Her chest felt constricted, as though a heavy weight had been placed upon it. She sank into her chair, her thoughts a jumbled mess.
