The cold tile floor of the bathroom was the only thing grounding Maya. She leaned against the wall, head in her hands, the nausea a relentless tide. The world had tilted. The doctors had said she had something called… “Chronosclerosis.” It sounded like something out of a science fiction movie. Her carefully constructed life felt like it was dissolving.

She'd been so sure this was all in her head, that she was just being dramatic. But the test results proved otherwise. The doctor had mentioned a support group, a meeting tonight at the community center. She didn't want to go. She wanted to crawl into bed and disappear.

A knock on the bathroom door startled her. It was a nurse, her expression soft. “You okay, dear? The doctor has a patient waiting. A young man, said he’s been diagnosed too. He seems… well, like he could use some company.”
