Gemotions

The afternoon sun cast long shadows across her otherwise empty apartment. She hadn’t been outside in days. The world felt dangerous, full of unseen threats.

The doorbell chimed, a sharp, insistent sound. Hesitantly, she opened the door. A bouquet of vibrant tulips, a splash of colour against her drab existence. No card. She felt a wave of confusion and apprehension.

She retreated back into the apartment, clutching the flowers. Who? Why? The unspoken questions swirled around her, as heavy and suffocating as the perfume from the blooms.
