Gemotions

He stared at the notice, his vision blurring. The words swam on the page, the impact hitting him with the force of a physical assault. His apartment. Gone.

He felt a tightness in his chest, a sensation that made it difficult to breathe. He sat at the kitchen table, unable to move, unable to think.

He closed his eyes, replaying memories of the place, each one a precious fragment, now threatened. He gripped the edge of the table, his knuckles white.

When he opened his eyes, a single tear traced a path down his cheek. He had never felt so alone.
