David paced the length of the gate, his strides erratic and uneven. The business deal, the opportunity of a lifetime, was hanging in the balance. He kept glancing at his watch. The meeting was in an hour.

The metallic tang of fear coated his mouth. He clenched and unclenched his jaw, trying to control the tremor that ran through his limbs. The world seemed to shrink around him, the noise fading to a dull roar. He could feel the blood pounding in his ears.

He tugged at his tie, feeling suffocated by the knot. The weight of his missed opportunity seemed to press down on him, and he knew he had lost it. The knot in his stomach only tightened.
