Gemotions

The silence in the house, after he left for work, was deafening. She couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, even when alone. She'd caught him, more than once, speaking softly into his phone, his face betraying nothing. It was enough. The paranoia was eating her up.

She paced the living room, her footsteps echoing in the empty space. She felt a tightening in her chest, a difficulty in breathing. Everything felt wrong. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was standing on the edge of a precipice.

She grabbed the remote and turned on the television, but the images on the screen were meaningless, a cacophony of noise. She turned it off, the silence returning, heavier than before.
