He dropped the plastic brick, the sharp sound echoing in the sudden silence. Miss Rodriguez. The woman who had made him question his abilities at every turn.

He felt a tightening in his throat. He saw his own insecurities reflected in his son's bright, eager face. He imagined his son, crushed and defeated, under Miss Rodriguez’s tutelage.

He made a sudden decision. He would enroll in the parent-volunteer program, just to keep an eye on things.
