He couldn’t eat. The thought of putting food in his mouth churned his stomach. He sat at the kitchen table, staring at a half-eaten bowl of cereal, the milk curdling around the soggy flakes.

The incessant buzzing of his phone was driving him mad. Each notification was a tiny jab, a reminder of the digital invasion. He wanted to throw it across the room.

He stood up abruptly, knocking over his chair. The sound, sharp and loud, startled him. He needed air. He needed to be anywhere but here.
