The homeowner, David, stared at the collection of handwritten journals. Each page contained cramped, furious entries detailing increasingly paranoid ramblings. The previous owner spoke of shadows, whispers, and unseen presences.

The more he read, the colder he felt. He checked the window, then the door. He felt a constant sensation of not being alone. Each entry was more harrowing than the last, as if the writer was losing his sanity. He slammed the final journal shut. The silence that followed was worse than the words.
