Gemotions

The discovery sent chills crawling over Thomas’s skin, as he leaned against the wall, trying to find some semblance of calm. The room, accessible only through a hidden panel in the master bedroom closet, was bare except for a small, iron-bound trunk. He had a sudden urge to flee the house, to get as far away from it as possible. He imagined all the things that could be in that trunk, his imagination conjuring up shadows and whispers. He found himself avoiding eye contact with his wife, as if she, too, was privy to the secret.
